A Texas man has been arrested for a severe case of road rage in Webster Parish.

On July 10 at 4:35 p.m., Troopers responded to a road rage incident involving a gun on I-20 westbound at Minden.

While traveling, the victim noticed a 2008 Toyota Tacoma traveling extremely close on his rear bumper as the driver, Leroy Smith, 62, of Ft. Worth, TX, made inappropriate hands gestures.

Smith then changed lanes, positioned his vehicle alongside the victim’s vehicle and pointed a handgun at the victim. The victim immediately slowed his vehicle, called 911 and reported the incident.

Troopers located and stopped the Toyota on I-20 about 11 miles west of where the incident took place. Smith admitted to pulling alongside the victim’s vehicle and pointing a loaded .357 handgun at the victim.

Smith was charged with Aggravated Assault and booked in Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. If convicted, Smith faces up to a $1,000 fine and six months in prison.
