Train hits pedestrian in Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — A 59-year-old man was hit by a westbound Amtrack train while attempting to cross the railroad tracks at North Loop Monday afternoon.
The impact reportedly threw the man 50 feet.
Police responded at approximately 12:30 p.m. Witnesses said that all of the warning signals at the crossing appeared to be working properly at the time of the crash.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
There’s an ongoing investigation regarding this crash.
