A Covington child was taken to a Baton Rouge hospital today after an accident in a science camp lab. Another child was transported to a hospital in Shreveport.

The archdiocese of New Orleans said the injuries happened at St. Scholastica High School in the Chemistry class at roughly 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 17.

The class instructor also received minor burns and was treated at a local hospital.

Officials have not given an update as to the status of the two children, nor have they said how the accident occurred.

All camp activity was suspended for the day. However, they plan to continue courses for the remainder of the week.
