Two homes in Oak Hills area damaged by morning house fire
BATON ROUGE, LA — St. George Fire Department units were dispatched at 8:02 a.m. to a reported house fire at 1700 block of Twisted Oak in the Oak Hills area.
They arrived at shortly after to discover the back half of the house on fire with fire threatening neighboring homes on both sides. A second alarm was called, bringing a total of five engines and two ladder trucks, and over 30 members of the St. George Fire Department to the scene.
The fire was declared under control at 8:39 a.m.
The home at 1731 Twisted Oak was more than half consumed by the fire and a car in the driveway suffered serious fire damage. The neighboring home at 1721 Twisted Oak suffered moderate fire damage to the rear of the home, while the other neighbor at 1741 suffered minor fire damage.
A St. George fire investigator was called to the scene. The fire was determined to be accidental. It was the result of the improper disposal of ashes and embers.
No injuries were reported.
