Two teachers in St. Landry Parish are locked up after drugs were discovered in the vehicles they parked on school property.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a tip was called in to its agency regarding possible drugs on the campus of North Central High School located in Lebeau. The tip came in on Thursday, Jan. 17.

“Anytime we get a tip about drug activity at a high school, we respond to it immediately,” Captain Megan Vizena, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, said. “Our K-9s made two alerts in the parking lot. To our surprise it was two of the employees. Obviously that was the last thing we expected.”

Investigators found several marijuana seeds and a marijuana stem in the vehicle of Abdul Levier, a teacher at the school.

The second vehicle belonged to Clarence “Butch” Fontenot, a coach at the school. Officials say they found a clear plastic bag containing marijuana and three partially smoked cigarettes containing marijuana.

Levier and Fontenot were arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Violation of Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug Free Zone.
