As we reported two weeks ago, the contract with UL head football coach Mark Hudspeth is a done deal. Although the negotiations took longer than expected, both sides are happy with the final signed contract. The final numbers work out to make Coach Hud the highest paid head coach in the Sunbelt Conference earning almost a million dollars per year, including incentives over the six year contract period.

Now, the coach can concentrate on the football field and athletic director Scott Farmer can continue to improve and expand the football stadium. Everybody's happy.

"It's a great thing for the Cajun Nation. You know he's done an absolutely phenomenal job since he's been here. He's not just won games, he's created excitement. He's changed the culture of our football program. It's very gratifying to get that done and to have him signed, sealed, and delivered. And hopefully he'll be able to stay with us for several more years."

The Cajun Football team is coming off another 9 game win season including a bowl victory for the third straight year, and just around the corner is opening home game of the year on Saturday August 30th against Southern University before an expected packed house at Cajun Field.
