University encouraging community to wear red tomorrow to support Ragin' Cajuns in their first game this weekend

Thursday, August 28, 2014 - 3:02pm

Tomorrow is Wear Red Day on UL's campus and throughout the community where everyone is encouraged to wear red clothing showing support for the Ragin' Cajuns beofre their big game on Saturday.  Wear Red Day has been on campus for decades, and has now spread from campus to the community and beyond.

"Any university of course is connected to it's community, but the culture here is so engrained in terms of people wanting to stay local and honor where they came from.  Remembering our history and our cohesiveness, our welcomeness, you know, we'll take anybody from anywhere and make them apart of what we're doing," says Matthew Tarver, Assistant Director of Brand Management and Creative Services.

UL is encouraging everyone in the community to get together tomorrow and take a picture of groups wearing red in support of the University, and to send those pictures into WearRed@louisiana.edu, or post straight to facebook on Ragin' Cajuns wear red.  UL officials will pick winners and they will receive prizes and recognition from the University.
