UPDATE: State Police extradite sex trafficking suspect to Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — UPDATE: The Louisiana State Police say they extradited 22-year-old Darneesha Lashay Martin from Houston, Texas, on January 27.
Martin was arrested on January 18, in Houston. Her arrest was the result of a cooperative effort from the Louisiana State Police, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, and the Houston Police Department.
Martin has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the charges of Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes and Promoting Prostitution.
UPDATE (January 18): 19-year-old Alcoby LaSalle has turned himself in. LaSalle has been booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on charges of Trafficking Children for Sexual Purposes and for Promoting Prostitution.
ORIGINAL STORY (November 27, 2013): Louisiana State Police are looking for two Lafayette residents in connection to a child sex trafficking case.
The ongoing police investigation focused on combating the trafficking of children for sexual purposes and to recover child victims from sexual exploitation.
The suspects are Darneesha Lashay Martin, 22, and Alcoby Con LaSalle, 19. Both are wanted for trafficking children for sexual purposes and promoting prostitution.
Martin is a black female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 116 pounds, with black hair that may be died red. LaSalle is a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 155 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Martin and Lasalle currently have active warrants for their arrests.
