Senator Vitter says funding has been at a stalemate for too long
LAFAYETTE (KADN) — Recently members of the Louisiana Congressional Delegation sent a letter to Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki requesting a face-to-face meeting to discuss the future of funding for VA clinics in Lafayette and Lake Charles that has been in limbo.
"The funding is there. It's been in the planning stages for a couple of years now and because of some hiccups at the VA it's become stalled," says US Senator David Vitter.
The letter, signed by the entire Louisiana delegation including Senator Vitter, requests that Shinseki respond by March 1 acknowledging his support of the authorization of the clinics, or to detail his concerns with the legislation so the issues could be resolved. The bill for the VA hospitals is currently in the Senate waiting to be passed.
