Valentines day is not just a holiday for those celebrating loved ones.  It also means big sales for businesses in Lafayette.  The big day of love is also a big day of business thanks to all those last minute shoppers.

"Valentines day for Edible Arrangements is definitely one of our biggest days as far as sales are concerned," says Pallavi Simon, owner of Edible Arrangements.

With an edible arrangement, it's a feast for the eyes and a feast for the stomach, but for some people Valentines day is the perfect excuse to up the ante.

"Leading up about a week to Valentines day there's an awful lot of interest and everything like that for engagement rings," says P.J. Naomi, president of Pauls Jewelry.

P.J. also said there were a lot of younger shoppers this year too, on the lookout for some sterling silver for that special someone.  Still, when you think Valentines day, of course you think flowers.

"Oh very very hectic.  We have lots of drivers out, lots of help in the shop," says Leona Leger, owner of Leona Sue's Florist.

And it doesn't stop there, this holiday is also creating jobs.

"I always, always have to get help during Valentines day," says Pallavi Simon.

From shops to shoppers, Valentines day is a big day for everyone here in Acadiana.
