Victim of attempted armed robbery hits suspect several times with pot

A woman working at a restaurant in Iberia Parish fought off an armed robber with a pot.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the attempted armed robbery happened on Monday, Aug. 20 shortly before 5:00 p.m. It happened at Pop’s Barbeque located on Pershing road.

We’re told the victim was inside when a black male wearing a dark shirt and dark pants confronted her with a knife. The victim says she grabbed a pot that was located on the counter next to her and began striking the man repeatedly with the pot. The victim says the man took off on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as being 6’0” weighing approximately 170 pounds. He could have noticeable injuries from the encounter with the victim.

Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office have been assigned to the case and are asking if anyone has information on the incident, to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 369-3711.
