Victim robbed of puppies, cell phone and backpack; arrest made

On March 28, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Lafayette Police responded to the 1100 block of Moss Street regarding an armed robbery.

The victim informed police he met with Shaquille Batiste, 19, for the potential sale of two pit bull puppies he owned.

After negotiating with the suspect for several minutes, Batiste produced a handgun and stole the victim’s puppies, cellphone and backpack.

Batiste, of Lafayette, has been charged with Armed Robbery.
