Victim Stabbed in Disturbance with Suspect
Lafayette, LA—On June 21, 2014, at approximately 12:05 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 300 block of Short Street regarding a stabbing. The Victim, a 52 year old male of Lafayette, told police the suspect forced his way into the residence and began arguing over money. During the argument the suspect produced a pocket knife and began stabbing the victim multiple times. A second victim, a 53 year old male, attempted to intervene at which time the suspect struck him with a board, injuring his wrist.
The suspect then fled the area on foot. The suspect, Thaddeus Lewis (29) of Lafayette, was located a short time later by police hiding beneath a home in the area. Lewis was arrested and charged with Home Invasion, Attempted 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Battery and Resisting an Officer. Lewis was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Both victims were transported to a local hospital and remain in stable condition. The investigation remains ongoing.
