An argument between a wife and husband led to a fatal crash in Slidell.

On September 2 shortly after 8:30 p.m., State Troopers investigated a single-vehicle fatal crash on I-10 in St. Tammany Parish.

The crash took place approximately half a mile before the U.S. 190 Business/Fremaux Ave. exit and took the life of Lauren Gregor, 25, of Gautier, MS.

An investigation revealed that Gregor’s husband, Cody Rafter, 24, and Gregor got into a verbal altercation while driving on eastbound I-10 near Slidell.

Gregor grabbed and jerked the steering wheel violently to the right. As a result, the car rotated clockwise, traveling off the right side of the roadway and overturning.

Gregor, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle and became trapped under the car. She was transported to Ochsner Northshore Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

Rafter was wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries in the crash.

Impairment is not suspected at this time pending toxicology analysis.
