Zoo of Acadiana's show bird succumbs to injuries
Injured from crash after being stolen early Wednesday morning
LAFAYETTE, LA (KADN) — Kiwi, the bird that was stolen from the Zoo of Acadiana and recovered from a burning car, has died at the LSU Veterinary Hospital in Baton Rouge where it has been trying to recover.
The bird was stolen along with two other from the zoo by Yongcun Su of New Iberia. After a high speed chase that ended in a fiery crash, Su died from his injuries along with one of the birds.
Kiwi managed to crawl out of the burning car with multiple injuries and was brought to the LSU Veterinary Hospital.
The third bird flew away from the burning car, and has not been seen since.
