Lafayette officials are recommending two new city laws to decrease congestion and public intoxication.

City-Parish President Joey Durel will not yet appoint a new board of commissioners for the troubled Lafayette Housing Authority. Three appeals against the LHA are currently pending.

Firefighter resigns amid allegations

A third-generation firefighter has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old girl at a fire station on August 5. Dayne Leger resigned from his position with the Lafayette Parish Fire Department on Monday.

LHA investigation still unwinding

One person shot in home invasion

On August 27, 2010, at approximately 1:30 am, three suspects entered a residence in the 100 block of Delord Street armed with handguns. The male victim (34) in the residence was struck in the back of the head and bound with tape.

Ft. Polk brigade heading to Afghanistan

The Army combat brigade stationed at Ft. Polk will leave for Afghanistan in October. A deployment ceremony for the brigade is scheduled September 30 at Ft. Polk's Honor Field.
