Acadiana High Baseball Phenom Stryker Trahan Set To Sign With Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquire local Acadiana high school “phenom”, Stryker Trahan, with the 26th overall pick in the 2012 Major League draft. The selection marks the first time the Diamondback’s organization has selected a position player in the first round, since 2009.
Trahan is a strong muscular left-handed hitter and is expected to continue developing exceptional home run power. In addition to those qualities, Trahan is a catcher, a highly valuable position at the Major League level. Well-rounded catchers in the league are scarce, and Trahan possesses a combination of athleticism and power to develop into a premier player at the position.
Trahan does have a scholarship offer to the University of Mississippi; however, sources feel, barring a cataclysmic failure in contract negotiations, Trahan will sign with Diamondbacks.
