Cajun Football Rivalry

Friday, November 2, 2012 - 7:34pm

Saturday, the Ragin’ Cajuns travel to Monroe to take on the Warhawks, in what promises to be one of the more anticipated games between the two teams in recent years. ULM is building on one of the most successful seasons in school history under Todd Berry (6-2, 4-0 Sunbelt), while The Cajuns (4-3, 2-2 ), are looking to rekindle the fire that propelled last year’s team to 9-4, culminating in a win over San Diego State in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Last years contest ended in dramatic fashion, UL trailed by 11 points with a little over three minutes left in the game before scoring late twice, converting an onsides kick in the process. The sting from that game is still evident for Monroe fans. All week Warhawk nation has been celebrating their hatred towards the Cajuns on twitter, at #Cajunhateweek. Stakes are high for both teams, UL desperately needs a win to stay in contention for the conference and keep their bowl hopes alive, while ULM, though currently bowl eligible, will likely not receive a bowl bid with only six wins. Seven wins will almost assure a bowl birth. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM CST in Monroe.
