Coach Hud Says Cajuns Enter 2014 With Blank Slate
July 28, 2014 — The predictions have been tablulated and the consensus opinion is overwhelming....The University of Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns are big time favorites to win the Sun Belt Conference this coming football season. Sporting news, USA Today, Phil Steele's Football Guide...They all say the Cajuns will take the conference.
This is all based on the past three years of UL football under Head Coach Mark Hudspeth who has won three bowl games and 27 games during that span....Now, heading into the first year of not being the underdogs but instead the big dog....We asked Coach Hud how does he keep his players motivated and on track for the coming year?
"They enter this season with a blank slate. They have not accomplished anything. We still have a lot of goals as a program that we have still yet to accomplish." said Coach Hud.
"I think they understand we still have a lot of work to do and see still have to take it one game at a time. If we can keep that tunnel vision and that laser beam focus one game at a time, one practice at a time, one period at practice at a time, then I think we can active our goals. But once we start looking past certain teams and certain times of the year and taking things for granted, that's when we get in trouble. So we have got to continue doing a great job as a blue collar hard working team."
Not only have the polls predicted Sun Belt success but now the pre-season Sun Belt coaches poll has also agreed that UL will finish first and Arkansas state second. Football season is just around the corner, only 32 days until the opening game of the year on Saturday August 30th vs. The Southern Jags at Cajun Field.
