July 31, 2014 — The dog days of summer are just about over and so is the baseball season for the Acadiana Cane Cutters. The Texas Collegiate League season has only a couple of weeks left and the playoffs are just around the corner.
Right now, the Cane Cutters are in second place and on a four game win streak after a good road trip. Tonight, we feature another segment of meet the Cutters....
It's relief pitcher Scott Ashford, the teams leader in appreances and in saves out of the bullpen with eight....The Ole Miss Rebel from Baton Rouge likes playing in Lafayette and thinks the team is playing solid ball at the end of the season.
"It's coming to an end, but hopefully ours season last a little bit longer than some of the other teams. We are trying to make a playoff spot. Right now I think we are sitting in second place and hopefully we can push on into the playoffs and hopefully win this league." said Ashford.
"I am from Baton Rouge Louisiana, went to Catholic High School and then went to Ole Miss. We'd love all y'all to come out. It's a great family time at Fabacher Field in Youngsville, so please just come out and support us."
You can catch the Acadiana Cane Cutters tomorrow night for fireworks night and LSU night featuring former Tiger pitcher Eric Hetzel signing autographs and throwing the first pitch out as the Cutters host the Texas Marshall's at 7pm at Fabacher Field in Youngsville.
