UPDATE* Corporal Bridgette Dugas has confirmed with News 15 that three individuals suffer from non-life threatening injuries. The status of the driver is unknown at this time. We will continue to share updates as they develop.
A spokesperson for Lafayette Police Department has released the following statement,
“On February 15, 2019 at approximately 4:55 pm Lafayette Police responded to the 4600 block of Johnston St. in reference to a major accident involving two vehicles. As a result of the accident both vehicles made impact with the building of a local business. Three occupants inside the local business were transported to local hospitals. Two suffered non-life threatening injuries and one is listed in stable condition for the injury sustained. The driver of one vehicle has been cited for improper turn. The driver of the second vehicle was cited for insurance violation. Impairment is not believed to be a factor. Circumstances surrounding the accident is being investigated by LPD Traffic Division.”
