Are You Ready in Case of a Car Accident?

If you were ever in a car accident, would you know what to do? If not, don’t fret, I’ve got you covered on the basics.
94% of crashes occur because of human error, that’s according to the National Highway Safety Administration.
No matter how minor or serious your accident is, Lauren Savoy a licensed Allstate Insurance agent says, call the Police first.
She says, “you want to have a Police report on file to verify the story.”
Often people make the mistake of swapping out insurance or they call the insurance company without calling the police Savoy says. But, “its not the Police who says who’s at fault its the insurance company,” Savoy says.
Your collision insurance is there to help you in this situation. The next steps after the accident will require some office time to file an insurance claim. Savoy says, “after we (the insurance company) file the claim, in like 3 days someone will reach out again and they will ask to hear the story again to confirm the information.”

Unfortunately for those who do not have insurance, under Louisiana law, you are not protected. Savoy says: “if you don’t carry insurance and you get into an accident and it’s not your fault there’s nothing anyone can do for you because you have to pay and have insurance in order to use insurance.”
