Arrest Made in Garron Lewis Murder

New Iberia Police Chief, Todd D’ablor says an arrest was made in the shooting death of 17-year-old Garron Lewis, “[20-year-old] Tra’vance J. Bernard is the person that’s responsible for taking the life of Garron Lewis.”

Mayor Freddie Decourt called the community to action and commended the investigators for working so quickly in the case, “Kids need to stop killing kids. We need to heal in this community. Our community has come a long way, but we have much further to go.”

Raymond Lewis stood firm and recounted the night he and his wife heard the news about their youngest child, “on that Friday night, I said, Lord, all I want to see; let me live long enough to see my baby graduate.” Lewis continued by saying his son, who played football, and was only 17 years old, graduated. “What grater graduation for Christians and those that believe, what a graduation to be present with the Lord.”
