At approximately 0022 hrs. (1:22 am) on July 23rd, the Basile Police Department received a second call from Evangeline Parish 911. During the call, a report of a disturbance, involving gunshots, was reported on Ford Ave., at or near the Basile Housing Authority. Upon investigation, it was learned that two (2) large groups of individuals had been involved in both physical and verbal altercations. Before Officers arrived at the scene, a group of approximately six(6) to eight(8) young males, fled the scene in one single vehicle. Upon their departure, someone in the vehicle fired several shots, apparently in the air.

Upon further investigation, it was learned that several of the individuals, who were involved in the disturbance, at the Housing Authority, had recently stolen a pickup truck out of Ville Platte.
