Broussard, December 6, 2018: On Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at approximately 2000 hours the Broussard Police Department was dispatched to a local hospital in reference to a patient that was admitted who sustained gunshot wounds.
Officers learned that the incident occurred in Broussard in the area of Alley 1 & 2 earlier in the evening.
Investigators arrived at the hospital and learned that the victim, identified as Trevis Thomas (b/m 19 YOA of Duson) was attempting to sell an iPhone to someone he met on SnapChat. Thomas and his passenger Dylan Centeno (w/m 18 YOA of Duson) picked up the potential buyer (a black male about 6’ tall wearing a dark colored hoodie) who got in the back seat of Thomas’ truck. While inside of a parked vehicle on Alley 2, a black male approximately 6’ tall approached the passenger side window brandishing an assault-style rifle. Simultaneously the rear-passenger brandished a silver semi-automatic handgun where a struggle ensued. The victim was shot once in the arm and once in the leg with a handgun by the back-seat suspect and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The rear-seat suspect then exited the vehicle. Thomas and Centeno fled the scene and drove to a local hospital a short time later.
