Lafayette, LA (KADN) — The Ragin’ Cajuns softball team opens the season Thursday against Fordham as part of the Ragin’ Cajuns Classic at 5pm. They are optimistic about this year. They have to band together to stay strong after volunteer coach Geri Ann Glasco, the daughter of the head coach, died in a car accident in January.
“Its kind of unspoken that we are dedicating this season to her, ” catcher Lexi Comeaux said. “Every day is a new struggle. Everyone pretty much knows that this season will be dedicated to her. She did a lot for the university in a short amount of time.”
The players traveled to Geri’s funeral in Illinois. Geri Ann was killed in a car accident on Interstate 10 last month. She was 24 years old.
