LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns soccer team opens its 2019 exhibition season on Friday when it travels to Hammond to face Southeastern Louisiana in a 6 p.m. match at Strawberry Stadium.

With the 2019 regular-season debut for first-year coach Lance Key set for Aug. 22, the Ragin’ Cajuns will get their first test against an opposing team since reporting for camp last week. Louisiana returns 20 players from last year’s roster while adding eight newcomers – five freshmen and three transfers.
Leading scorers Una Einarsdottir and Gwen Mummert return for the Ragin’ Cajuns with Mackenzie Lee returning as the top goalkeeper. Returning letterwinners Telly Vunipola, Julianne DeBlieux and Madysin Girouard were among a group of eight players who scored goals for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Key, a two-time NCAA National Coach of the Year and ranked No. 3 all-time in career winning percentage (.830), posted a 210-21-16 record from 2004-15 at Trinity University (Texas)
After facing SLU (7-7-4 in 2018), Louisiana will head west to Lake Charles for a 7 p.m. match at McNeese.
