UPDATE: Center Point Energy is urging residents to not light their pilot light. A representative with the company will visit each home and light it for them. We were also informed of 2 gas lines that were affected. One gas line has been restored and the other is currently being worked on. We’ll bring you more information as it becomes available.
St. Martin- Out in St. Martin parish an electrical gas fire left residents without power. The power has since been restored. Fire crews and the gas company, center point energy, are on scene ensuring everything is safe. Center Point Energy spokeswoman Alicia Dixon says utility crews have started turning off power earlier during this situation.
If you see a downed power lines, move away from it and avoid touching it, as the ground around power lines (up to 35 feet away) may still be energized.
