CPPD: Church Point Man Fatally Shoots Brother After Verbal Argument

At approximately 4:11AM on July 26, 2019 the Church Point Police Department received a call of an ambulance being needed at 350 N. Franques St. in Church Point La. Upon arrival officer located  68-year-old Joseph Moore with a single gun shot wound to the chest in the residence. Acadian Ambulance personnel attempted to revive Mr. Moore but were unsuccessful. Mr. Joseph Moore was confined to a wheelchair due to having his right leg amputated. An investigation led to the recovery of a .22 caliber rifle which was used in the shooting. The investigation also revealed that the suspect who did the shooting was the victims brother Elvin Moore, age 65, who also resides at 350 N Franques St. Church Point. At this time investigation revealed that the brothers got into a verbal argument which led to the shooting. Mr. Moore was arrested at the scene and transported to the Church Point Police Department where he was booked for 2nd Degree Murder. A bond was set on Elvin Moore by District Judge Kristien Earles at $300,000. Further investigation is continuing at this time.
