A fully automatic assault rifle and a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun were seized by detectives with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office on August 10, 2018 as part of a shooting investigation. Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division arrested Gage Christopher Rochelle, 18, in connection to a June 16 shooting in the 200 block of Crooked Creek in Lafayette. Rochelle, a resident of St. Martinville, is charged with Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property for the shooting, in which the fully automatic and semi-automatic firearms
seized by detectives were used. At the time of the incident, shots were fired into a residence occupied by two adults and two children. No one was injured. Rochelle was being held in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond for unrelated charges at the time of his arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
