October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and what better way to celebrate survivors than to announce the inaugural debut of the Dodi Groves Breast Cancer Fund. Dodi was an amazing wife, mother, educator, daughter and friend who lost her battle to breast cancer but left her legacy in Acadiana.
The Dodi Groves Breast Cancer Fund was created to fill a void in the services available in our community. The service area for the DGBCF will be made up of the entire Acadiana area. Specifically, the following Louisiana Parishes: a) Acadia, b) Iberia, c) Lafayette, d) St. Landry, e) St. Martin, f) St. Mary, and g)Vermilion.
“The mission of the Dodi Groves Breast Cancer Fund is to continuously address the many breast cancer-related needs of the people of Acadiana while collaborating with other individuals and organizations in our Community.”
“The Vision of the Dodi Groves Breast Cancer Fund is to have assisted in the eradication of breast cancer and its effects.”
Our first event is the “The Witches Ride “ to be held on October 19, 2019 in Sugar Mill Pond, Youngsville, LA. From 4:00pm –7:00pm. The Witches Ride will be a SPOOKTACULAR family friendly event featuring a family 5K bike ride, a 1 mile fun walk/run or a 5K fun run/walk. This will feel like a fall festival with activities for the kids, including a trick or treat time, food and drinks, music and a Survivor Celebration to recognize all survivors in attendance. We will honor all breast cancer survivors with a pinning ceremony on stage and watch them boogie down the cat walk.
