An early morning double-murder suicide has left the town of Port Barre in shock.
The dead have been identified as 23-year-old Skylar Kimble of Port Barre, 23-year-old Christopher Boudreaux of Hamburg.
The suspected shooter is 25-year-old Michael Dupont Jr. of Palmetto who called police.
“He says look I’m at my ex girlfriend’s home. I just killed her and her boyfriend. I’m about to commit suicide.” Port Barre Police Chief Deon Boudreaux recalled.
Dupon told police he was on Pawnee St.
Officers got there as quick as they could but it was too late.
“The caller they identified was already deceased from a gunshot wound. They found the other two victims at the end of the house also deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.” said Chief Boudreaux.
Chief Boudreaux says Dupont shot and killed his ex girlfriend Skylar Kimble and her new boyfriend Christopher Boudreaux.
He added Dupont and Kimble dated for three years but broke up a few months ago.
“She moved on and I think the shooter couldn’t move on. This happened at 2:45 in the morning. Don’t know what happened for this guy to come here in the morning with that on his mind.” said Chief Boudreaux.
According to Chief Boudreaux, Dupont had no previous history of violence.
There was also no restraining order between Kimble and Dupont.
Several neighbors who didn’t want go on camera say the news of the murder suicide shocked them especially because the three people involved kept to themselves.
“You just can’t really prepare for. You can’t predict what’s going on in a person’s mind. If you are in relationship and you split up with that person and it seems like they haven’t moved on. Just reach out to someone, reach out to law enforcement.” said Chief Boudreaux.
Chief Boudreaux says this is the first domestic incident in the town that ended in a homicide since 2003.
