Lafayette, LA (KADN) — Saints quarterback Drew Brees was in Lafayette on Tuesday to honor the area’s top high school athletes at an awards show at the Cajundome Convention Center. He also conducted a flag football camp at Neyland Park. Brees did not start playing tackle football until high school in Texas.
“One of our next stops was Lafayette, Louisiana,” Brees said. “We have a community that really understands youth sports and appreciates youth sports. To give these kids the opportunity to develop a love and passion for the game of football through flag football. I think this is one of the best ways to play it.”
Brees passed for the forth most passing yards in the NFL last season. The Saints begin the preseason on August 9th against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
