Driver Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on US 190

Slidell – On Tuesday, May 26, 2020 shortly after 1:00 PM, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on US 190 near Old River Road in St. Tammany Parish.  The crash has claimed the life of 69-year-old Jerry M. Parr Sr. of Bush.
The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Parr was driving a 2006 Lincoln Town Car northbound on US 190. Parr’s vehicle was struck head on by a 2011 Toyota Tundra.  The Tundra was driven by 19-year-old Joseph J. Molinary of Slidell. Despite being restrained, Parr sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital before being pronounced deceased.  Seatbelts were used by both drivers and impairment is not suspected.  As a part of the crash investigation, a blood sample was collected for scientific analysis from Parr. Molinary submitted a voluntary breath sample, which showed no amount of alcohol present. Molinary was cited for Careless Operation. Any additional charges will be forwarded to the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office pending the completion of the investigation.
Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists to make good, safe decisions such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, obeying the speed limit, and avoiding all distractions. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained.
