Lafayette, LA – Downtown Alive! has announced the lineup of their Spring 2020 season, presented by Evangeline Maid. The upcoming season of Lafayette’s beloved Friday night concert series is stacked with talented performers from across multiple genres—representing the best music that Acadiana and the Gulf South have to offer. The lineup includes national acts like Anders Osborne, Brother Dege, and Amythyst Kiah, alongside stellar Acadiana-born hitmakers like High Performance, Ray Boudreaux, Horace Trahan, and Bas Clas.
The Spring season of Downtown Alive! is presented by Evangeline Maid, Downtown Lafayette’s own 100-year-old bakery who is committed to providing delicious bread products and supporting the culture and community of Acadiana through great food and amazing music.
“Evangeline Maid has been part of life in Acadiana for more than a century,” said John Steed, senior vice president at Flowers Foods. “We are excited to continue our commitment to the community by sponsoring the 2020 season of Downtown Alive – showcasing the culture of the region through food, music, and dancing.”
The Spring Downtown Alive! season will begin in March and provide free, family-friendly concerts through the middle of April. DTA! takes place on Friday nights in Downtown Lafayette, beginning with the “Happiest Hour” at 5:00 PM, followed by music and fun until 9:00 PM. The concerts are the perfect way to kick off a weekend in the heart of Lafayette with a little music and dancing with friends before heading to a Downtown restaurant or bar to continue the fun.
The season kicks off on Friday, March 13th with a hard-rockin’ night of Cajun music by High Performance alongside Kyle Huval & the Dixie Club Ramblers. Noteworthy concerts from the Spring lineup also include Horace Trahan & the Ossun Express sharing the stage with Soul Creole on Good Friday, Brother Dege & the Bretheren who will open for Anders Osborne, and
Lafayette’s own Ray Boudreaux who will open for the powerful folk/soul/blues singer Amythyst Kiah.
“Downtown Lafayette is buzzing with excitement about this upcoming season of Downtown Alive!,” said Anita Begnaud, CEO of the Downtown Development Authority and Downtown Lafayette Unlimited. “DTA! is one of our community’s most beloved traditions, and we are grateful to ‘keep the music alive’ for families this Spring as we lead up a season full of amazing events including Mardi Gras, Po-boy Festival, Bach Lunch, Festival International, and Downtown Rising. We hope that Acadiana will join us Downtown on Friday nights to kick off the weekend.”
In addition to the musical performances, Downtown Alive! concerts offer numerous reasons to enjoy the start of the weekend in Downtown Lafayette. Family-friendly activities by organizations like the Children’s Museum of Acadiana, the Lafayette Science Museum, Lafayette Public Library, and Deuxième Vie Creative provide fun for the whole family. The DTA! Manger area features food from a variety of local vendors—necessary fuel for the dancefloor. For the early birds, the DTA! “Happiest Hour” features a specialty cocktail provided by a rotating group of Downtown bar sponsors. As always, DTA! concession sales contribute to keeping the event free. The concert organizers urge attendees to, “leave the ice chest at home and keep the music ALIVE by purchasing beverages from the official DTA! bar or Coca-Cola booth.”
Downtown Alive! would not be possible without the support of its sponsors, especially Evangeline Maid who will be the Spring 2020 presenting sponsor. Companies like Coca-Cola of Lafayette, Lafayette Utilities System (LUS), Super 1 Foods, Lowry’s Printing, Element Event Productions, Potty Girl, Townsquare Media, and Delta Media all contribute to making Downtown Alive! possible through their support.
Acadiana residents are invited to join the Downtown Lafayette community this Spring for a season-long celebration of amazing music, great food, and fun with friends and family at Downtown Alive!
