Basile Mardi Gras association host Courir de Mardi Gras

Courir de Mardi Gras & Vermilionville Living History Museum & Folklife Park presents two Mardi Gras events at once.
LAFAYETTE, LA- The staff at Vermilionville Living History Museum & Folklife invites the community to enjoy two grand events on one big day, Sunday, February 24 the from 10:00 a.m.
“The Basile Mardi Gras Association will bring an old- fashioned Courir de Mardi Gras to the city. The run begins at 11:30 a.m. ending with the famous chicken-chase for the children
followed by live music in the Performance Center. The notorious, Cajun band, FeuFollett, will kick off our weekly Le Bal du Dimanche à Vermilionville as we return from the Courir.
Learn how to make a king cake in the Cooking School and a Courir costume hat at the apuch on station.”
The event will also feature, a community celebration of Foodways. This portion of the day will feature area cooks/chefs, artists, writers, poets folklorists/anthropologi/historians, and musicians joining forces in a community-wide conversation, demonstration and celebration of traditional food ways.
Admission is $5 per person (members $4) and ages 3 & under admitted free. Northside High School staff and students admitted free only with identification.
