October 18 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
(Opelousas, LA)- The October 18th Music & Market will feature Patrick Henry & The Liberation Band performing at the Farmers Market Pavilion in Opelousas. The Friday night outdoor series was designed to help promote the area’s music heritage and bring attention to local farmers and their produce. Guests are welcome to bring a lawn chair, kick back, and enjoy the music. The featured vegetable for the week will be honey.
R&B singer Patrick Henry began performing at the age of seven when he sang his favorite hymn, “One More River to Cross,” in a little church in the town of Sunset, LA. Beginning his professional career in 1978, he was the front man for the Liberation Band.
Henry got his nickname, Mr. Excitement, for his unique vocal styles and high-energy performance. The 90s brought many amazing things for Patrick and the Liberation Band. They had numerous hits such as “Lady of My Dreams” and “Don’t Put Me Out.” In 1995, “Come and Get It” peaked at #17 on the Top 50 Blues Chart.
Henry, an incredibly versatile artist, has performed with such acts as The Emotions, Johnny Taylor, Bobby Blue Bland, Kool & the Gang and the Pointer Sisters as well as a host of Zydeco bands.
