Coach Tony Robichaux will be remembered as the only UL Lafayette coach with over 1100 wins but Jay Walker, long time friend of Robichaux says he was so much more than a coach.
“As a man of faith he knew that his calling on this earth was to make the world a better place by making men better men,” says Walker. ” “They are going to be able to teach what they were taught by Tony Robichaux and as a result that tree of better men and bettter fathers is going to be huge.”
His players, fellow coaches, friends, family, all of Acadiana and beyond will now have to carry his legacy forward.
“We’re just gonna use his memory and all the great work that hes done and his attitude and kind of pull ourselfs up and continue on but its going to be tough,” says Mayor- President Joel Rebideaux.
But there’s one thing we know for sure.
“His legacy is going to live on in the community for a long time.”
