Mark Hudspeth, who was the UL head football coach until early Sunday morning, has released a letter on Twitter expressing his gratitude to the athletes, fans and staff at the University of Louisiana for his tenure here.
“Tyla the kids and I would like to thank you for allowing me to lead your football program for the last seven years!” Hudspeth wrote. “It has been an incredible journey and we will always cherish the many experiences and victories we had here and the many friendships we have made along the way!”
UL Director of Athletics Bryan Maggard announced Hudspeth’s firing Sunday morning, citing a drop in attendance, lower concession sales, and ultimately the team’s third straight losing season, capped by a season-ending 63-14 loss to Appalachian State.
Maggard said a search for a new coach is underway.
