Get Ready for Lafayette’s Newest Walking Parade, Krewe De Canailles!

LAFAYETTE (LA) – Krewe de Canailles is proud to announce “LOUISIANA
FESTIVALS” as the official theme of the Year 3 parade which will be held on Friday,
February 14, 2020.
Inspired by the countless weekend celebrations of food, culture, and wildlife, krewe
members will be able to create human-powered floats, costumes and collectible throws that pay
tribute to the many festivals that make the state of Louisiana so vibrant and unique.
Krewe members have already begun flexing their creative muscles to think of loving,
tongue-in-cheek references to Louisiana classics like the Rayne Frog Festival, the Breaux Bridge
Crawfish Festival, downtown Lafayette’s own Festival International de Louisiane and so much
more.
Founded in early 2017, Krewe de Canailles held their first-ever walking parades in
February of 2018 and 2019, quickly establishing a growing movement to bring an inclusive,
interactive and litter-reduced Mardi Gras parade to Downtown Lafayette. In the place of plastic
beads, krewe members are tasked with creating special handmade throws that can only be found
at a Krewe de Canailles parade. Crowds can expect a mostly barricade-free experience as
spectators and krewe members are allowed to dance and celebrate together in the streets of
downtown Lafayette.
Registration is open at KreweDeCanailles.com as of Monday, August 11 and will be
open through January 2020.
