Grand Jury Declines to Indict Murder Suspect

A Lafayette grand jury Wednesday declined to indict a 23-year-old woman in connection with an Oct. 21, 2019 shooting death.

Bri’ana Doucet has been jailed on a second-degree murder charge since the death of 22-year-old Trevon Adams, whose body was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a parked car near the 800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The Lafayette Parish Correctional Center confirmed late Wednesday afternoon that Doucet is still jailed on the charge. A spokeswoman for the Lafayette Police Department, the arresting agency, tells News15 the case is now out of their hands. The 15th Judicial District Attorney’s office didn’t return a call seeking further information on Doucet, when she might be released from LPCC or whether prosecutors plan to present the case again to the grand jury.
