“Hang-Up on Grandma Good” Game of the Week: Acadiana vs. Zachary

Lafayette, LA (KADN) — The Rams lost to Zachary last season in the playoffs and now they have their chance for revenge on Friday in the 5-A state semifinals. However, Rams coach Matt McCullough insists that revenge isn’t something that will be a factor in the game. He just wants his players to focus on the small details to beat the two-time defending state champions.

“You just gotta prepare well all week and then come out and play well,” McCullough said. “They’ve won back-to-back state championships and they were 13-0 in their last 13 games in the playoffs so it is going to be a tough task.”

Zachary is looking for its best defensive game to knock off Acadiana on the the road. Coach David Brewerton explained to his players the history of both schools intense battles in the postseason.

“They are the number one ranked team for a reason and they are are undefeated for a reason,” Brewerton said. “We are the underdog for a reason and we understand that, but our guys have played in some huge games over the course of the last few years.”

The winner of this game plays either Haughton or Destrehan in the state championship game next week.
