Heat Continues, but not as Hot

Video Forecast

After some intense storms yesterday, we are looking for a much quieter day around Acadiana. Many of us will be dry today, but a few storms can’t be ruled out. South of I-10 has the best chance at seeing afternoon storms. We will still have high humidity which will make it feel like 105° or hotter. We may see another heat
Today: Spotty showers and storms mainly south of I-10. Heat index 105°+. High: 93°
Tonight: Partly cloudy and muggy. Low: 77°
Friday: Mainly coastal storms. Hot and humid. Heat index 105°+.
The heat backs off this weekend as we increase rain chances. There’s a good chance both Saturday and Sunday of seeing storms around, which could produce heavy rain and frequent lightning. Highs will be in the lower 90s. Temperatures fall to near normal next week and rain chances stay high. In the tropics, things will remain quiet through the next 5 days, but later next week, we will watch a tropical wave move into the Gulf. Some models are hinting that something will try to spin up, so we will have to monitor that going through the next two weeks. It’s nothing of concern for now, so we’ll just focus on the heat and humidity.
