Volunteers of America’s housing and homeless programs have grown to meet the changing needs of South Louisiana and the unique challenges that low-income households face finding safe, decent, and affordable housing. People served range from chronically homeless adults living on the streets, to individuals and households who are experiencing a housing crisis for the first time, to people in jeopardy of losing their homes. Volunteers of America provides a range of services designed to meet people where they are and encourages them to play an active role in their own recovery. For many, they are the first link in a continuum of care that enables them to move towards stability and self-sufficiency.
The summer months can be equally as difficult for the homeless as the winter. Brutal temperatures, beaming sunlight and various insects put the homeless population at increased risk. That is why VOA needs your help with supplies and donations. Items needed include sunscreen, water, water bottles, toiletries and more. If you’re interested in helping you can drop off supplies at their offices in Lafayette 114 Exchange Place, Lafayette, LA 70503 or call (337) 234-5715.
