A Houston man has found his biological family right here in Acadiana after he was separated from them 50 years ago. After a brief battle with the courts he was able to gain access to the documents that lead him to Rayne.
It was a reunion like no other. “I’m going to take advantage, for the rest of my life my family is in my back pocket.” Earl Luckett never thought in a million years he would meet his biological family. Though Earl says his adoptive parents gave him an unforgettable childhood he always knew something was off.
“I’d look at my mom and take a look at my dad and a look at my sister none of us favor none of us had that same look you just kind of knew” Earl said. He finally got confirmation at a funeral that he was adopted. Once he got access adoption records his daughter Kristina Morehead helped him locate his family.
“My husband had the idea of looking up some of the names on Facebook, I just sent a message to Gale Zenon which is my dads youngest sister and she replied and it kind of went on from there” Kristina said.
Kristina says everything moved so fast from that point on. “To go from having one aunt to this whole group of people, different of people to get to know its pretty cool. He’s always wanted a big family now that he gets it its exciting he’s been talking about it every single day”
Earl says this is the family reunion he’s always dreamed and he can’t wait for the next one. “Meeting all of my siblings and my cousins and uncles and aunts and here im standing here next to my dad man its an awesome feeling awesome feeling.”
