Government and economic development groups in Calcasieu Parish are looking to Houston and beyond for ideas on funding that will replace the kinda-scary Interstate-10 bridge over the Calcasieu River in Lake Charles.
If you’ve ventured west you know the bridge for its steep arc and iconic iron flint-lock pistols in the railing. The American Press Newspaper reports that officials are considering a plan that would replace the bridge and pay for it through electronic tolling.
The bridge has been rated a 6.6 out of 100 by the national bridge registry. Estimated cost of replacement runs from $400 to $800 million dollars.
