Jennings, LA (KADN) — Week 15 didn’t look possible after the Jennings Bulldogs started the season (0-3) but now they are shuffling towards success. The Bulldogs play St. James Friday night in the state championship game.
“All the doubters really motivated us,” senior Linebacker Jacob Cooper said. “Trying to prove people wrong and knowing in the back of our head we were the team that could get us there.”
The Bulldogs are the 23rd seed, so they’ve had four upset wins to get here. That’s not bad for a team that only had one returning starter on offense.
I think it’s just the youth kind of grew up we are playing with 18 underclassmen on this football team,” Head Coach Rusty Phelps said. “It took a little time for us to get right offensively and be consistent.”
“Obviously our team can do great things,” Jacob Cooper said. “Don’t let momentum change our mind and stick to the game plan.”
