NEW ORLEANS —A New Orleans civil district judge will decide the outcome of two lawsuits that local groups and residents brought against the New Orleans City Council last year in connection with a paid actor scandal at an Entergy power plant meeting.
udge Piper Griffin will decide on the cases Friday.
Court begins at 9 a.m. One lawsuit involves the Entergy paid actors scandal and the enforcement of the Open Meetings Law. The lawsuit was heard in March, Griffin is now ready to make a ruling from the bench.
The second lawsuit is an appeal from the City Council’s approval of the gas plant on the grounds that it violates constitutional due process rights and local laws.
Griffin plans to issue a written judgment on that lawsuit.
