Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested Michael Duhon, 51 of Lafayette on charges of Felony Theft (excess of $25,000), Money Laundering, and Exploitation of person with infirmities.
“As Attorney General, I am committed to ensuring the safety of our citizens,” said Attorney General Jeff Landry. “This arrest should serve as a warning that my office will not tolerate those who attempt to defraud our State’s people.”
Duhon was booked into the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility. He allegedly presented himself to his victim as a financial professional and over the course of several months misappropriated nearly $400,000 through the use of elaborate and convoluted fraudulent schemes. He allegedly facilitated the formation of various shell corporations and opened bank accounts for the businesses at various financial institutions, fraudulently diverting nearly $400,000 worth of funds.
