The solemn self-reflection of Good Friday, colliding head-on with the convenience of modern American life today at Louisiana Avenue United Methodist Church.
Members of the Church hosted a drive-thru prayer event from 8:00 a.m. to noon, offering the faithful a moment of prayer without even having to step out of their vehicles.
Pastor Robert Johnson says he was able to witness people receive joy.
“We’re seeing people come in here all broken and with their heads down, but what’s amazing is when you watch when they pray they just have a joy and their excited. One young lady came, she saw the sign and she turns around and she was on the way to work and she said, ‘When y’all prayed for me I feel good. ‘Now that I can go to work .’ She said, ‘I was down but y’all lifted me up in prayer.” I told her it wasn’t me it was the Holy Spirit of God.”
